Welcome to Seattle Creative Kids Preschool.  I’m Teacher Sheila and the preschool Director.  I’m realizing a lifelong dream to provide a positive place for young children to:  express themselves creatively; use their imagination; develop social/emotional and problem solving skills; and embrace diversity.  In other words, realize their full potential.  I want to be a partner in helping you prepare your preschool child for taking the big leap into kindergarten.  In doing so, I will listen to your child and understand who they are as a young individual.

Sheila Cloney is a Seattle native.  Growing up surrounded by academics, she developed an early love of learning. Her father was a University of Washington Zoology Professor for 40 years and her mother received a Masters Degree, was a librarian and now is actively involved in horticulture at the Washington Arboretum.  Summers were spent in the San Juan Islands, exploring tide pools, and playing with children from all over the world that made the annual trip with their families to enjoy all that island life has to offer.  Sheila has drawn on her life experience to develop a preschool program that is developmentally appropriate for children between the ages of 3-5. 

Sheila has a Bachelors Degree from the University of Washington in Art History, and a Masters Degree in Public Administration from Seattle University. Sheila has worked as a nanny, has practical experience working in the preschool setting, and spent several years volunteering through the Lake Washington School District in the Lunch Buddy Program for at-risk children.  Sheila currently volunteers her time at Olympic View Elementary in a kindergarten art class.  Sheila has extensive Program Management and Organizational Development experience.  She also enjoys collecting miniatures, loves animals, and being outdoors gardening or just enjoying the elements. 

Assistant Teachers at Seattle Creative Kids Preschool have backgrounds in Early Education and have practical experience working in a variety of preschool settings and disciplines.

Seattle Creative Kids Preschool is licensed by the State of Washington to operate as a half-day preschool program.  All Seattle Creative Kids Preschool teachers attend regular STARS (State Training and Registry System) training and have satisfied the State requirements to work in a preschool.
